This is the basic cake recipe that you could use if you are stuck without an oven but do have a pressure cooker at home

Summary

  • Course: dessert
  • Cooking Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

100 Grams Maida
125 Grams Granulated Sugar
1/4 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Melted cooking butter or flavorless vegetable oil
1 Teaspoon vanilla essence
1 Teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
3 Tablespoons cocoa powder

Steps

  1. Prepare a cake pan by greasing, lining and dusting and set ready ( I use a 7 inch diameter one for the round pans)
  2. Separate the egg yolks and whites
  3. Beat the white till it stands in stiff peaks and set aside
  4. Cream the yolks, vanilla essence and sugar together till the quantity is doubled and the mixture is fluffy
  5. Add the butter and milk to this and beat to incorporate.
  6. Add the baking powder and maida and combine
  7. Fold in the egg whites till fully combined
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Set this into a dry pressure cooker on top of a small stand so that the base of the pan is not in contact with the base of the pressure cooker. Close without the whistle
  9. Bake on high flame for first 2 min, medium for next 5 min and on low for around 25-30 min. Cake is done When a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean
