The eternally simple dessert that satisfies a sweet tooth, Shahi Tukda is made of butter toasted bread and a slightly thinner Basundi. (Not for the calorie conscious!!)

Summary

  • Cuisine: mughlai
  • Course: dessert
  • Cooking Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

8 Bread slices
200 grams Condensed  milk
strands 15 Saffron
pinch Cardamom
1 cup Water
to taste Unsalted butter

Steps

  1. In a thick pan bring the water to a boil and add in the condensed milk while stirring continuously
  2. Add in the saffron strands
  3. Slowly bring to a boil while stirring.
  4. Turn off the flame and set aside to cool
  5. Cut the bread slices into the desired shape (triangles and circles seem to be the fave, I stick to triangles)
  6. Toast the bread crisp on both sides after applying a generous helping of butter
  7. Arrange the toasted slices in a container of your choice, in such a manner that the condensed milk mixture can cover it
  8. Pour the condensed milk mix over the bread slices to just about cover the slices
  9. Keep in fridge to chill for 30 minutes
  10. Serve and amaze!!
