The eternally simple dessert that satisfies a sweet tooth, Shahi Tukda is made of butter toasted bread and a slightly thinner Basundi. (Not for the calorie conscious!!)
Ingredients
8 Bread slices
200 grams Condensed milk
strands 15 Saffron
pinch Cardamom
1 cup Water
to taste Unsalted butter
Steps
- In a thick pan bring the water to a boil and add in the condensed milk while stirring continuously
- Add in the saffron strands
- Slowly bring to a boil while stirring.
- Turn off the flame and set aside to cool
- Cut the bread slices into the desired shape (triangles and circles seem to be the fave, I stick to triangles)
- Toast the bread crisp on both sides after applying a generous helping of butter
- Arrange the toasted slices in a container of your choice, in such a manner that the condensed milk mixture can cover it
- Pour the condensed milk mix over the bread slices to just about cover the slices
- Keep in fridge to chill for 30 minutes
- Serve and amaze!!
