A very simple dish that can be prepared when you are craving something like a prawn ghee roast but do not have the time for the elaborate preparation.
Ingredients
350 gms Peeled and deveined shrimp
2 Medium sized onions- Sliced thin
3 tbsp Ghee (clarified butter)
1 tbsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Cumin (Jeera) powder
1.5 tbsp Coriander powder
2 tbsp Kashmiri Chilli powder
2 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
1 Cinnamon stick
4 Cloves
1 Star Anise
1 tsp Mustard
4 Dry red chillies
10 Curry leaves
Salt to taste
Recipe
1. In a pan, heat ghee and add mustard seeds
2. Once the mustard splutters, add in curry leaves and dry red chillies and fry
3. Add the cloves, cinnamon and star anise and fry till fragrant.
4. At this point reduce the heat and add in the all the powdered masalas and fry for a few seconds
5. Add the ginger garlic paste and combine well and bring the heat back up to medium
6. Add in the sliced onion and salt and saute till it reduces to a third of its original volume
7. Add in the shrimp and mix well
8. Cook on low heat for about 10 minutes
9. Let rest for at least 10 minutes before serving
Serve warm with Rice, chappatis, dosa, appam, idlis, neer dosa, porotta etc.
