The name literally translates to Sweet pineapple curry. It is definitely one of the side dishes that is very different from the usual cuisine in Kerala, but is an essential part of the Onam sadhya.
Ingredients
1 tbsp Coconut oil
1 tsp Black Mustard seeds
10 Curry leaves
4-5 Dry red chillies
1 tsp Turmeric powder
750 gm Pineapple cubes
175 gm Black Grapes
Salt to taste
For grinding
1/2 cup Grated coconut
2 Green chillies
1 inch cube Ginger
Recipe
1. Grind all ingredients under the section for grinding to a coarse paste and set aside
2. In a pan heat oil, add the mustard seeds and wait for it to splutter
3. At this point, add curry leaves and dry red chillies
4. Once those are fried, add the turmeric powder and saute
5. Add the ground coconut mixture to this and cook well for about 5 to 6 minutes
6. Add the pineapple cubes and grapes to this and cover and cook for another 6 to 7 minutes
7. Let cool completely
Serve as a side dish for rice
