Peanut Scallops in honey




100 gm Roasted peanuts

1 tbsp Vegetable oil

1.5 cups Onion (sliced long and thin)

2 tbsp Sichuan peppercorns

1 tbsp Crushed Red chillies/red chilli flakes

2 tbsp Water

300 gm Scallops (shelled and cleaned)

2 tbsp Honey

Salt to taste



  1. Crush the roasted peanuts by giving it just one whirl in the blender/grinder. We are looking for coarse powder mixed with broken peanut pieces. Set this aside
  2. In a pan, heat the oil and add the onions. Cook until golden
  3. Now add the sichuan peppercorns and red chilli flakes to this and cook until fragrant
  4. Add the crushed peanuts to this and combine very well
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes
  6. Add the water and mix in well
  7. Add scallops to this and cook. Do not overcook scallops as they would get rubbery
  8. Turn off the heat and mix in the honey
  9. At this point taste for salt and if required add to taste

Serve with rice or noodles

P.S: If you only have raw peanuts on hand, roast them in a pan without oil for 3-4 minutes or microwave at high power for 2.5 minutes.
Just like clams and mussels, scallops can also be salty by nature, hence do not add any salt while cooking
