Tamarind Fish curry

Ingredients

1 tbsp Vegetable Oil

1 tsp Black Mustard seeds

10-15 Curry leaves

3 Green Chillies (slit lengthwise)

1 tsp Turmeric powder

1 tbsp Coriander powder

1/4 tsp Cumin (Jeera) powder

1/2 tbsp Red chilli powder

2 tbsp Ginger (finely minced)

8 cloves Garlic (finely sliced)

1 cup Onion (chopped)

1/2 cup Tomato (diced)

2 tbsp Tamarind paste

2 cups Water

300 gm Fish pieces (cleaned)

Salt to Taste

Recipe

  1. In a deep pan, heat the oil and add mustard seeds
  2. Once the mustard stops crackling, add the curry leaves and green chillies
  3. Fry for a minute
  4. Add the spice powders and cook for a few seconds
  5. Add the ginger and garlic and saute until fragrant
  6. Mix in the onion and tomatoes and cook until very soft
  7. Mix in the tamarind paste into this and cook for a minute
  8. Add to cups of water with salt and place the fish pieces in
  9. Cook covered until the fish pieces are cooked

Serve hot with rice
