Ingredients
1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 tsp Black Mustard seeds
10-15 Curry leaves
3 Green Chillies (slit lengthwise)
1 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tbsp Coriander powder
1/4 tsp Cumin (Jeera) powder
1/2 tbsp Red chilli powder
2 tbsp Ginger (finely minced)
8 cloves Garlic (finely sliced)
1 cup Onion (chopped)
1/2 cup Tomato (diced)
2 tbsp Tamarind paste
2 cups Water
300 gm Fish pieces (cleaned)
Salt to Taste
Recipe
- In a deep pan, heat the oil and add mustard seeds
- Once the mustard stops crackling, add the curry leaves and green chillies
- Fry for a minute
- Add the spice powders and cook for a few seconds
- Add the ginger and garlic and saute until fragrant
- Mix in the onion and tomatoes and cook until very soft
- Mix in the tamarind paste into this and cook for a minute
- Add to cups of water with salt and place the fish pieces in
- Cook covered until the fish pieces are cooked
Serve hot with rice
